Pouring an inviting Poulsard pink in the glass, the wine offers layer upon layer of complexity blood orange bitters, spice, rose petals and peach. A category defying wine which is unlike any we have tried before. Made mainly with Gewrztraminer from vines up to fifty years old planted over clay and limestone in Obernai. These grapes come from two contrasting vintages

but the captivating thing is that the taut acids do not seem to have dropped a notch

certainly one to watch as it grows in age for is made from massale selection vines that originate from the fabled Clos Roche Blanche

Made with a blend of Bacchus and Reichensteiner

The resulting wine is incredibly lifted and perfumed

it develops into a stunningly complex wine balanced by layers of umami flavours

a flor of wild yeast began to form on the surface of the wine which was left to develop for five years

This is one to throw into the ice bucket and then pour out into generous glasses
